About Me

My life’s mission is to empower, inspire, and guide as many people as I can along the journey of transformation.

I have seen first-hand that no matter how hopeless life can seem, there is always a way forward, and it begins with making a choice to grow. It is only through the process of choosing transformation and growth that our biggest challenges become our biggest catalysts towards freedom, happiness, and joy.

Brand manifesto

I have been fascinated with witnessing the incredible power that is available to us to transform ourselves and our life circumstances in even the most dire of circumstances. My own life story is one of adaptation and continuous transformation. I have had moments of breakdowns and breakthroughs, I have had to change and adapt to new environments and circumstances, I’ve made mistakes that I have learned from, and I continue to expand into greater levels of development way beyond my comfort zone.

What I’ve discovered throughout my many life experiences is that deep down, when we strip away all the layers of masks and stories ~ we are all the same. We all feel the same things, and we all desire to be living a life that is a true expression of who we really are.

So what holds us back from living a life of true freedom, happiness, and self-expression? Often times, it boils down to FEAR. Fear of the unknown, fear of failure, fear of rejection, fear of not being good enough. I recall a time in my life, when Fear was dominating the show. My heart was telling me to take risks, while my mind was creating all the reasons why it wouldn’t work out and that I was foolish.

I slowly began to pay attention to these ‘defining’ choice-point moments where I could continue to let fear rule my life, or I could choose to move forward with courage and love. And that made all the difference…taking that first step into the unknown can be a scary step. But you don’t have to do it alone. Nothing gives me greater joy than to walk the journey with those that are ready to transform and evolve to a place of wholeness, freedom, and joy. This is why I do what I do.

What is my style of working?

Having worked in the helping professions for over fourteen years my foundation lies in the pluralistic approach of tailoring therapy to meet the unique needs of every client. I therefore integrate different models of person-centred, cognitive behavioural, solution focused, compassion focused, acceptance and commitment, or mindfulness based approaches depending on what is most effective and helpful.

My core values include respecting individual diversity, establishing a collaborative therapeutic alliance, and offering a safe space for you to share and work through your struggles, in order to achieve your goals and live a meaningful, fulfilled life.

My past work experiences have included working within the NHS primary care system providing psychological services at Step 3 and Step 4 level of care for patients. I have also worked with international students at the University of Manchester Counselling Service where I have created a specialised service providing counselling, workshops, and individualised support meeting the unique adaptation challenges and needs of this at-risk client group.

Previously, I worked in the social services sector in Canada providing critical life skills and psychosocial support to adults with developmental and learning disabilities, FASD, autism, and other complex issues. I have also provided mentorship to troubled youth, and empowered communities in Kenya through psychological support, capacity development, and advocacy for adults and young people facing issues of HIV/AIDS, drug abuse, unemployment, and poverty.

My areas of interest and expertise:

Self-worth and self-esteem issues, depression, anxiety, phobias, relationship and interpersonal conflicts, building capacity and life skills, personal development, coping strategies, anger management, addictions, eating disorders, integration issues, bereavement, trauma, stress management, life coaching.

My Training

My professional training includes holding a Bachelor’s Honors degree in Biopsychology and a Master’s degree in Transpersonal Psychology which have allowed me to understand the human psyche from both a scientific and more spiritual/holistic perspective. I have completed a Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology, and hold Chartered status with the British Psychological Society, and registration with the Health & Care Professions Council. I have completed BPS accredited training to provide clinical supervision to other therapists and coaches, and trainee psychologists.

I have received professional training in leadership and capacity development, and I continue to undergo personal and professional development seminars on a regular basis. As an ethical practitioner all of my clinical work is supervised, further enhancing the safety, effectiveness and quality of my practice.

I am keenly passionate about facilitating the process of developing a healthy relationship with ourselves, the foundation from which all things are possible.

I would welcome the opportunity to support you on your journey towards transformation and help you achieve the goals that will lead to your big breakthroughs.
